Dirty Three announce Dublin date on first EU/UK tour in over a decade
Dirty Three mark their return to the Irish capital for the first time in over twelve years.
Dirty Three have announced a gig date in Vicar Street, Dublin on December 6.
The trio were active throughout the '90s, touring with the albums Horse Stories and Ocean Songs, becoming renowned for their genre-blending mix between post-rock, folk and classical influences.
The band consists of violinist Warren Ellis, guitarist Mick Turner and drummer Jim White.
The Melbourne natives played their first gig in 1992, where Ellis attached a guitar pickup to his violin with an elastic band, creating distorted feedback.
Prior to Dirty Three's formation, Ellis studied classical violin and worked as a teacher before travelling as a busker through Europe. He also performed with the group Blackeyed Susans, where he met Mick Turner and Jim White to later form Dirty Three.
Love Changes Everything, their latest album, was released in 2024 and was their first album in twelve years.
In a 2001 Hot Press review of Dirty Three's live performance at Whelan's, the band were applauded for their “god-like skill and passion” after performing "a truly awe-inspiring gig".
Tickets for their Vicar Street gig go on sale this Friday, July 4, at 10 am, available on Ticketmaster.
